Rebuilds, Remanufactured Actuators, and the 2-Year Limited Warranty

Rocky Top Yachting Services, LLC rebuilds Volvo Penta and Yanmar power steering actuators, including part numbers 872215, 3854704, 21910902, 3812269, and 3860883, and sells remanufactured actuators ready to install.
Rebuild service: we rebuild your own unit
- Order the rebuild service in our eBay store, or call Karl at 865-604-3282.
- Please order only when your unit is ready to ship. Your unit should look like the photo in the listing. If you are not sure, send Karl a photo first.
- Ship your unit to: Rocky Top Yachting Services, 3267 Northpark Blvd, Suite F, Alcoa, TN 37701.
- Put a neatly written or typed note in the box with your name, phone number, email, return address, and order number.
- We rebuild your own unitand send it back to you. We never send you someone else’s used unit.
What we do
- We replace every seal that can be replaced, using American-made Viton pressure seals and O-rings of the proper hardness.
- If your plastic piston shows any sign of cracking, we replace it with our machined aluminum piston.
- On some older units with no retaining clip near the threads, the two large seals between the outer and inner cylinders cannot be replaced. We replace every other seal and the piston, and we tell you before the work is done.
Turnaround and shipping
Our typical turnaround is 1 to 2 days after your unit arrives, plus shipping time each way. Return shipping is charged when you order, as shown on the eBay listing.
If your unit cannot be rebuilt
We inspect every unit when it arrives. If yours cannot be rebuilt, for example because the cylinders have worn against each other, we call you before doing any work. We ship your unit back and refund the rebuild price. Return shipping is at your cost and comes out of the refund.
Remanufactured actuators
A remanufactured actuator is a unit we have fully rebuilt with all new seals, ready to install. Any plastic piston showing signs of cracking has been replaced with our aluminum piston. It is sold outright, so you do not send us your old unit. There is no core charge. Each one carries the same 2-year limited warranty below.
2-Year Limited Warranty
What it covers. For 2 years from the date we ship your rebuilt or remanufactured unit, we warrant the seals and parts we installed against leaks and failure, and our workmanship against defects.
What we will do. If a covered failure happens, we rebuild your unit again at no charge for parts or labor. If we cannot repair it, we refund the price you paid for the rebuild or the remanufactured unit.
How to make a claim. Call 865-604-3282 or email info@RockyTopYachting.com and tell us what is happening. We will confirm the next step. You ship the unit to us. Return shipping is at your cost, and if we refund instead of repairing, it comes out of the refund. Please include your original order number.
What the warranty does not cover
- Damage from an accident, impact, or grounding
- Wrong, low, or contaminated hydraulic fluid
- Problems caused by installation or by other parts of the steering system
- A unit that has been opened, modified, or repaired by anyone other than us
- Parts we did not replace, including the two large outer seals on older units where we told you they could not be replaced
- The cost of removing or reinstalling the unit, hauling out the boat, or travel
- Any other loss or damage that results from a failure
Your rights
This warranty applies to the customer who ordered the rebuild or bought the remanufactured unit. Any implied warranties are limited to the 2-year length of this warranty, where the law allows. Some states do not allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, or limits on incidental or consequential damages, so these limits may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary by state.
